W1: #3 OU lost. W2: #5 Okie St lost. W3: #3 USC, #7 BYU lost. W4: #4 Ole Miss, #6 Cal, #9 Miami lose. Is it 2007 again? Boise St. hopes so!

To be clear (because someone on Facebook was, I think, confused), when I ask if it’s “2007 again” and say that Boise State hopes so, I’m not referring to Boise’s win in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1, 2007 over Oklahoma. I’m referring to the 2007-08 regular season, in which there was such an endless slew of upsets that a two-loss team (LSU) ended up playing for the BCS championship. The reason “Boise State hopes” it’s another such year is because, as I’ve said before, I think they might actually make the title game in such a scenario, if they’re undefeated. (The only mid-major candidate in 2007-08, Hawaii, was not a legit candidate — even I admit that — due to their absolutely horrendous schedule. Boise’s schedule, while hardly BYU-ish, is at least not laughable like Hawaii’s was. The win over Oregon looks great. They also play at Tulsa, a decent mid-major. And they have the “name” credibility from that Fiesta Bowl win, which Hawaii didn’t have.)

*though I wish that UC Davis game wasn’t there. Granted, Boise plays 13 games, but I’d rather they dropped UC Davis and just play 12. The mere fact of having played UC Davis at all will be a talking point against Boise, fairly or not, if they get into the conversation. (“Florida has two losses!” “But their schedule is much tougher than Boise’s!” “They played Charleston Southern!” “So, Boise played UC Davis!”)
Also, re: Tulsa being a “decent” mid-major team, yes, I’m aware they just lost 45-0 to Oklahoma. *sigh*
