How does Oklahoma State losing help Boise State exactly?
Because if Oklahoma State finishes 10-2, the Fiesta Bowl probably replaces Texas with them, so Iowa and Penn State are still available when the Orange Bowl makes its pick, so one of them go to the Orange, and there are no at-large spots left. On the other hand, if Okie State falls out of the Top 14, the Fiesta Bowl picks Iowa/PSU, and the Orange Bowl has few good options, so they probably take TCU or Cincinnati, in which case the Fiesta Bowl (with its second pick) takes either Boise (if the Orange takes TCU), or TCU (if the Orange takes Cincy…which would mean the Sugar probably takes Boise, since there’s nobody good left).
OK, it makes sense, I just couldn’t remember all the scenario details as minutely as you do 🙂
Grumble, grumble. Stupid Buffaloes, being bad.
P.S. Go Oklahoma!
(I now hate myself.)
Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo 🙂
