I think you’re saying that Reynolds ignored spending during Bush years.
That is not the case. He seems to bash it wherever he sees it.
No, I’m not saying that. I agree that he is a rare conservative who has been fairly good in that regard. Rather, I’m criticizing him for calling Obama’s spending freeze a “gimmick” because it involves such a small amount, when he (Glenn) has launched a huge blog crusade against “pork,” which involves even smaller amounts, and consistently defended that crusade against folks who say it’s just… well… a gimmick.
Not unexpectedly given his track record, Pres. Obama ridiculed Sen. McCain during the campaign for proposing this exact freeze.
Meanwhile, Paul Krugman is NOT happy. “It’s appalling on every level.”
Not that I expected him to be. Actually, he’s making the same argument gahrie does, which is quite true – this is EXACTLY what McCain campaigned on, and Obama campaigned against . . . and now, we have a spending freeze!
Like it or not, we can’t say “we’re all Keynesians now” anymore (if we ever could).
Yeah… Obama seems to have decided that the best way to fight back against the Republicans’ brand of Know-Nothing Economics / Populist Demagoguery is to… join them in their insanity.
*sigh*
“Join me, and we will rule the galaxy as Republicans and Democrats!”
I like this one: a liberal saying “We’re all neo-Hooverites now.”
