Baylor’s win over Duke has Lauren Taylor of Smyrna, GA on the verge of clinching the 13th annual Living Room Times women’s NCAA pool.
Taylor will clinch tonight if Stanford beats Xavier. If the Cardinal lose, she will clinch when… er, if… UConn beats Florida State tomorrow.
Only if the Musketeers and Seminoles both reach the Final Four can Taylor’s sole remaining rival for the pool championship — my 2-year-old daughter, “Loyette” — stay alive into the final weekend. Loyette is currently in 49th place out of 65, but her highly unusual pick of Xavier-over-FSU in the national title game gives her the potential to gain huge numbers of points on the field, in the unlikely event it actually happens.
Alison Flipse Vargas was mathematically eliminated by Duke’s loss, leaving only Taylor and Loyette competing for the pool championship.
Taylor, a long-time blog reader, is a 2004 Notre Dame alumna and a former member of the Band of the Fighting Irish. She is currently the co-vice president and young alum coordinator of the Notre Dame Club of Atlanta.
