So, in honor of Butler’s Final Four appearance this weekend, and quest for a mid-major national championship, I want to temporarily change my blog masthead from the newly added Denver panorama to a photo from my visit to Hinkle Fieldhouse for the Bulldogs’ 2007 BracketBusters game against Southern Illinois. I’ve narrowed my options down to two contenders:
I’m curious which one y’all prefer. I’m torn. I think option #1 is a better photo, but in it, you can clearly see A.J. Graves (the shooter) and Todd Lickliter (the head coach), both of whom are no longer with Butler. So it’s a bit anachronistic in that sense. Whereas option #2 is more generic, and thus just as applicable to the 2009-10 Butler team as it was to the 2006-07 Butler team. Also, its import is more obvious to the uninitiated, as it clearly says “BUTLER BULLDOGS” on the two flags.
Thoughts?
UPDATE: In keeping with the general consensus in comment, I picked #2, as you can see. If Butler wins on Saturday, we’ll see — I might switch to #1 before the title game Monday.
I say #2. #1 is a better photo, but it doesn’t say “Butler” to me. Honestly, being that I’m not a big basketball fan, I’d have no idea that #1 has anything to do with Butler if you didn’t tell me.
#2, hands down.
#2 for the reasons you mentioned. Also if you crop it just right you could double it as an add for ATT 🙂
I agree with Lisa. #1 is a better photo, but #2 shows the intention of the banner (cheering for Butler) more clearly.
#2 all the way.
#1 is an amazing shot. I prefer it technically, especially with the shot going up right under the masthead.
But #2 is self explanatory. Which I like too. As an intro to the site, I’d go with #2.
