I said Duke-Butler was compelling for TV. (http://bit.ly/aPI3uP, http://bit.ly/aaDV67, http://bit.ly/9mAqAp.) I was right. RT @CBSSportsGang Ratings 16.0 overnight, up 34% from last yr, ties as best in 11 yrs

Admittedly, the fact the game was EPIC may have helped a little bit. 🙂 Would be interesting to see first half vs. second half ratings.
Even so, “ties as best in 11 years” means that this equalled or surpassed such excellent powerhouse-vs.-powerhouse games as Kansas-Memphis ’08, Illinois-North Carolina ’06, Syracuse-Kansas ’03, etc. Conventional Wisdom said that was impossible with Duke vs. Butler, and that even Duke vs. Michigan State or Kansas State or Tennessee would’ve been better. I always suspected that was wrong — that, once Kansas and Kentucky and Syracuse were out of the picture, CBS’s best-case scenario was Butler (David) vs. Duke (Goliath).
