I just submitted a picture, taken at 9:00 AM Mountain Time this morning, to the New York Times for its “Moment In Time” global photo mosaic (organized by its “The Lens” blog). One of the topics is “Family,” and this certainly falls into that category:
The pictured scene came together on its own; Loyette spontaneously decided to start organizing her books like that, and the timing was just perfect. Here’s the caption I sent to the Times: “My 2-year-old daughter balances as she walks across a trail of books that she spontaneously created. We don’t publish our kids’ real names online, but her Internet nickname is ‘Loyette.’ Photo taken in our house in Denver, Colorado, at 9:00 AM Mountain Time.”
I wasn’t sure if Becky would let me publish the photo, given our usual policy of not putting pictures of our girls online, but I felt that this one was OK, in part because Loyette’s face is a bit blurry and kinda small, and she’s not looking at the camera anyway. Thankfully, Becky agreed, which spared me having to use a photo of our fish instead:
Nothing against the spawn of the late, lamented Barack and Michelle (er, actually the spawn of Michelle and some other male fish at Wal-Mart, ahem), but Loyette is way cuter than the guppies. 🙂
Our resident family possibilities aren’t quite as numerous as yours, so I had to go with the cat (who at just that moment happened to be supplicating for her breakfast.)
Did you submit it to the Times? (You have until Friday to do so, I believe.)
