In the Denver neighborhood of Stapleton, with its enormous “stroller population” — it’s an absolute mecca for families with little kids — the 4th of July is marked with a parade through Central Park. Who’s in the parade? No floats, no veterans’ groups, no marching bands, no Shriners. Just the residents of Stapleton, with strollers and wagons and bicycles (and kids & parents) all decked out in red, white & blue decorations. The parade stretches just about as far as the eye can see; there are that many kids.
Wait, did I say “no marching bands”? I lied. There’s a kazoo band:
