Went to the mall and spent no money. Maybe if our health insurance doesn’t skyrocket again, I could spend some of the money we earn.#ftheman

That was very unpatriotic of you. Don’t you love America?
But seriously, have you tried some of those online quote systems. Colorado appears to have a pretty decent number of companies who operate in the state, including Anthem (Blue Cross), United Health, Celtic, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, and PacifiCare. And these are just the big, well known companies. That’s a pretty good selection. In PA, as far as I know, the only MAJOR, well known companies are United Health, Aetna, Celtic, and Independent Blue Cross (I count them since they’re associated with Blue Cross, although I think in reality they’re a small PA-only organization).

Becky is talking about our group health insurance through my employer — cost is shared, and very steep for the family plan — not individual health insurance. We don’t have the luxury of shopping around. I did look into the possible alternative of individual health insurance using, yes, one of those online quote systems… but given the type of coverage we need, and the type of medical expenses we have with two kids (and can’t rule out the prospect of needing maternity coverage, so gotta get it), it ends up being somewhere between a wash and even more expensive than our exorbitant group insurance.
Oh, and as for your opening question, I have it on good authority that Becky is a dirty rotten hippie communist. 🙂
