According to the Reno Gazette Journal, the Western Athletic Conference has filed suit against the Mountain West Conference, Fresno State and the University of Nevada.
The lawsuit seeks to retain both schools through the 2011 season and to protect scheduling with remaining WAC members during that time.
Fun fact: This lawsuit has been filed in Jefferson Country District Court, right here in Colorado, and the judge who is hearing the case, the Honorable Brooke Jackson, is the first judge I ever appeared before as a lawyer. Heh.
It’s Jefferson County District Court Civil Case No. 2010CV4281, Western Athletic Conference v. California State University, Fresno, a California state institution, et. al., if anyone was curious. 🙂
Yeah, so not only are they taking on the MWC, but also the State of California and the State of Nevada by default as both are the owners of the respective Universities. It’ll be curious to see if the State’s Attorneys General (i think thats the correct pluralization) get involved.
