Michigan State has to beat Iowa first. Meanwhile, Oklahoma hasn’t lost yet (and just accomplished its customary hanging-half-a-hundred on Iowa State).

Of course MSU has to win all the rest of its games; so do Boise, TCU and Utah. And of course Oklahoma hasn’t lost yet. See: “The debate is NOT Boise/TCU/Utah vs. unbeaten OU/Aub/LSU.” My reference to “1-loss…Okla/Aub/LSU” is making the point that these teams won’t have any trouble passing Boise & co. if they win out, the question is whether they’ll do so if they lose a game but win their conference anyway.

(I didn’t mention Oregon because they’ll be #1, ahead of Boise & co., so nobody’s going to be complaining that OMG HOW CAN BOISE BE AHEAD OF OREGON?!?!?!, OREGON SHOULD TOTALLY GO TO THE TITLE GAME AHEAD OF BOISE!!!!! like they will with Oklahoma. I should have included Oregon in the potential 1-loss group, though. If Oregon loses to, say, USC on 10/30, but rebounds to win the Pac-10, there will certainly be an Oregon vs. Boise discussion. Interestingly, though, they’re probably one of the weakest teams to have that hypothetical debate because of memories of last year.)
