I don’t think anyone has ever thought it was “simple”, rather it is a matter of, how much are we willing to put up with in the name of avoiding all-out war? Is war now on our terms better than war later on North Korea’s terms?
People think we didn’t want to invade Iraq and Iran because of oil market consequences, but the worldwide economic ramifications of Seoul and Inchon being leveled under a barrage of artillery shells is even more devastating. And yet, we’re plainly dealing with an insane regime, and you have to wonder, are we really better off hoping for North Korea to implode, vs. launching a preemptive attack and trying to catch them off-guard?
