A bit frustrated by @NPRnews interview w/ Floyd Abrams. Said newspapers are safe releasing leaked docs, Wikileaks isn’t, but didn’t say why.
Because they are not a news organization. The purpose of their organization is to facilitate leaks. Ergo, for espionage purposes, they fall under the same category as the inside leaker.
Maybe that’s indeed the answer, and maybe there’s caselaw supporting that distinction for 1st Amendment purposes, but Abrams didn’t articulate any of that, nor was he asked to. That was my beef.
