The lowest ranked 10-2 AQ school in the BCS is Penn State at 11. (Pitt is 9-2 at 15). The 9-3s start with Virginia Tech at 12.
Sitting at 6-2 with their remaining schedule, I think the Irish have to figure they go at least 9-3 (and secure a BCS bid) in probably 4 out of every 5 such seasons, irrespective of the caliber of their coaching staff.
Don’t mean to sound excessively insensitive, but under those circumstances 6-6 is noteworthy, though not in a good way.
