My criteria:
-both names must point to the other
-must be esoteric enough to stump most folks
-must represent opposing dangers

Scylla & Charybdis

I’m finding more ideas, but all of them fall short of the first one:
Smeagol and Shelob… escape one, watch out for the other. The longer it’s been since you’ve seen them, the more heavily danger fills the room.
I should expand my 2nd criteria.
It should be esoteric enough to stump most folks, but an obvious relationship to geeks.

Lots of good ideas, here and on Facebook, but I think I agree with Benjamin Skidmore on FB that Romulus and Remus are still the best pair.
Nevertheless, thanks for the suggestions, everyone! This will be a very helpful list to review the next time I need to name a hard drive. 🙂
P.S. I am, however, very tempted by Uday & Qusay … LOL.
I’m going to name mine Shelob and Smeagol. You hope you never see them, but they provide a path when you’re losing hope.
