Pac-12 AD’s meet tomorrow
UPDATE: Jon Wilner talked to Pac-10/12 commissioner Larry Scott after today’s meetings and it sounds like, as predicted, no decisions were made. Either that or everyone is being tight-lipped about it until the CEO’s meet in two weeks. Looks like you still have some time to lobby for the USC/Colorado division, Brendan. Original post from 10/05/2010: We are fast approaching… Read more »
The SEC: more of a mild skirmish?
Two weeks ago, Ivan Maisel informed us that, “though it annoys to no end the rest of college football to hear it, the SEC is different. … There are plenty of…statistics and ratings by which to calibrate the primacy of the SEC. ‘In this league, there are legitimately 10 teams, maybe more, that can be Top 25 teams,’ [Tennessee linebacker… Read more »
Cal cuts baseball program; #sportsbubble #PANIC!
I’m hesitant to uncritically read too much into Cal cutting its baseball program — also lacrosse and gymnastics — partly because I haven’t read very much about it, but also because I suspect that it may have less to do with broad #sportsbubble trends than with conditions unique to the Great Recession and the ridiculous, wolf-face crazy budgetary clusterf**k that… Read more »

They’ve both scored exactly 27 points in each of the two weeks of the contest. (Old Gold & Black took sole possession of the lead twice Saturday, but gave it back each time.)… Read more »
Unofficial LRT Pac-10 Power Rankings: Week 3
I tossed out my rough rankings of the Pac-10 in comments last week. This week, I thought I’d make it a little more official. I’m basing this on performance so far, not predictions for future performance. I imagine there will be some debate in comments. 1. Stanford 3-0 (1-0 Pac-10) LW: 1 Comments: The Cardinal haven’t trailed a single quarter… Read more »
WAC vs. MWC: It’s a lawsuit!
According to the Reno Gazette Journal, the Western Athletic Conference has filed suit against the Mountain West Conference, Fresno State and the University of Nevada. The lawsuit seeks to retain both schools through the 2011 season and to protect scheduling with remaining WAC members during that time.
At Falcon Field
Here, it’s Air Force 21, BYU 14 at halftime. Elsewhere, Notre Dame trails Michigan 21-7 at the half, while Ohio State is beating Miami and Oklahoma is crushing FSU. UPDATE: This post actually didn’t publish to the blog until 7:20 PM, due to reception and batter issues. I back-dated it to the approximate time when it should have posted. UPDATE… Read more »
