The Living Room Times Podcast, Ep. 5: Obama Dreamed a Dream
Happy November, everyone! It’s our big Election Eve podcast, previewing tomorrow’s midterms and looking ahead to what the Tea Party might do afterward. Also discussed: my crappy birthday, Halloween in Stapleton (yes, that’s our pumpkin at right), and our babysitting co-op, among other topics.
But really, all you need to know is that this podcast features the world premiere of “Obama Dreamed a Dream,” my latest election-related Les Miserables parody (following on the heels of 2008’s “One Day More” about the Obama-McCain race, and 2009’s “Do You Hear The People Sing” about the Tea Parties). The lyrics are after the jump — but really, you should listen to the podcast first, to hear me get my Susan Boyle on. That’s right, I sing it. The auditory carnage starts around the 43-minute mark.
Several times, the podcast references the Living Room Times 2010 Midterm Election Prediction Contest. Here’s the link to enter! The deadline is 6:00 PM Mountain Time TODAY!!!
Regarding the substance of our discussion, I do have to fact-check Becky on one point (which I googled after-the-fact). FWIW, Ken Buck is on record as saying that he “does not favor doing away with common forms of birth control, like the pill.” It’s accurate, however, that he opposes abortion in all cases except where it is necessary to save the mother’s life, with no exceptions for rape or incest.
Anyway, as always, you can subscribe with iTunes here. Here’s the official episode page on Pod-O-Matic, and here’s the official podcast page, which gives you a range of subscription options. You can also directly download this episode as an MP3 file, if you like. And you can subscribe to this blog’s LRT Podcast category as an RSS feed, or subscribe to the official RSS feed of the podcast, again from Pod-O-Matic.
Previous episodes, if you missed ’em: Episode 1, Episode 2 and Episode 3, and Episode 4.
As promised, “Obama Dreamed a Dream” lyrics after the jump.
