Ralphie!

As you may have gathered from some of my tweets, I went to today’s Colorado-Iowa State game, with Kristy. It was fun! And Colorado won! (!!) Final score was 34-14. The clear highlight, though, was the up close & personal look we got at Ralphie — shortly after his pregame run around the field — when, en route to our… Read more »

DU opened its 2010-11 season with a loss Friday, falling 65-49 in Eugene, Oregon to defending Big West double-champion UC-Santa Barbara. The Pioneers trailed by just 2 at halftime, 32-30, and the game was tied 37-37 with 14:58 left. But the Gauchos closed the game on a 28-12 run, which included a nearly seven-minute scoreless drought for the Pioneers. Here… Read more »

Denver head coach Joe Scott knows a little bit about Northern Iowa. And he’s not afraid to tell you that he’d like to follow in their footsteps. The Pioneers wouldn’t lose again at Magness Arena… Read more »

[NOTE: My season preview blog post will follow later today. This post is just a general, navel-gazing intro to The Pioneer Post and my plans for it, such as they are.] The first thing to understand about this DU basketball blog project — which I’m officially launching today, right now, with this post — is that, really, I haven’t the… Read more »

They’re getting ready at DU’s Magness Arena for the big announcement this afternoon that the University of Denver is joining the WAC. I’m told there will be some pageantry, and I know there are already University of Denver/WAC t-shirts floating around. Anyway, here’s what the court at Magness Arena looked like a little over an hour ago: I’m getting ready,… Read more »

Seattle Mariner’s baseball just won’t be the same. Earlier today, Hall of Fame announcer Dave Niehaus passed away at the age of 75. Neihaus had been the clubs lead play-by-play announcer since the innagural season in 1977. Here’s Neihaus call from the 5th game of the ALDS when the Mariner’s advanced to the ALCS for the first time in club… Read more »
